Well, to answer the question, no! Kanpurites love their street side chole bathure and tikki—chaat more than the Alfredo pasta at some fancy café. And for all those lovers of street food, there’s a good news. The city is all set to get its first ever ‘Khau Gali’ at Brijendra Swarup Park in Swaroop Nagar on June 15, 2024.

On May 24, 2024, Kanpur Nagar Nigam officials visited Brijendra Swarup Park for a recce of the place and considered it fit for the opening of a khau gali where the residents of the city can enjoy a variety of snacks and dishes at multiple stalls, all at once on their day out. The khau gali will be functional from June 15 and we bet, you’re already making plans with your loved ones to visit.

‘Khau Gali’ literally translates to a street full of yummy foods. These are streets lined with food carts serving a variety of dishes from multiple cuisines so that everyone can find something of their choice and enjoy together. The environment here is usually very buzzing and lively as it becomes a hangout spot for young, old and anyone who is fond of food. It’s going to be a one of its kind experience!
