Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently reviewed a series of major development proposals aimed at transforming Kanpur into a more connected, greener, and future-ready city. The review highlighted several ambitious projects spanning urban greenery, mobility, township expansion, and long-term infrastructure under Masterplan 2031.
The CM emphasised that Kanpur’s upcoming development should be “rooted in legacy, rising to tomorrow”, ensuring that growth addresses both modern needs and the city’s rich heritage.
Some projects from Kanpur are:
1. Botanical Garden: Kanpur’s New Green Lung
One of the most prominent proposals is the creation of a large-scale Botanical Garden, envisioned as a landmark green space for the city.
2. Riverfront Link Corridor (Ganga Path): A Scenic & Connected Kanpur
The proposed Riverfront Link Corridor, popularly referred to as Ganga Path, aims to unlock the potential of Kanpur’s riverfront.
3. Greater Kanpur Township: A New Growth Zone for the City
A forward-looking proposal includes the development of a Greater Kanpur Township — a new city expansion area designed to support Kanpur’s future growth.
4. Road Infrastructure Under Masterplan 2031: Stronger Mobility & Urban Flow
Several key mobility upgrades form part of Kanpur’s Masterplan 2031, making road infrastructure a major element of the CM’s review.
These proposals collectively position Kanpur for a new phase of urban transformation — greener spaces, better connectivity, planned expansion, and improved liveability.
