Kanpur and Lucknow are among the 15 districts where the Directorate of Urban Transport is implementing e-bikes and e-cycles. Similar to how e-buses function, this concept will use a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) approach.

Like the Ola and Uber bike services, the project seeks to give customers a convenient and environmentally responsible method to get around the city. This action is anticipated to enhance urban transportation and provide citizens with a convenient means of transportation.

E-Bike Rental Services:

Increasing accessibility to transportation, particularly for last-mile connectivity, is the primary objective of this effort. According to Joint Director Jaideep Verma, "Common citizens will be able to get transport facility till the last point with this facility." Rental e-bikes will help everyday commuters by providing a convenient and reasonably priced form of transportation.

It is anticipated that the availability of these two-wheelers will further minimise traffic and the strain on urban buses and other public transportation. The city's transport sector may experience a rise in revenue with improved control over passenger numbers.

In light of the PPP model's success with urban buses in places like Varanasi, Kanpur, and Lucknow, the government intends to do the same with e-bikes and e-cycles. This project will encourage a cleaner, more sustainable form of transportation while also increasing mobility.

This initiative has the potential to revolutionise urban transport by providing a practical and environmentally responsible option for everyday transportation, if it is well planned and implemented.
