The Indian women's handball team defeated Hong Kong-China 31-28 in the Indira Gandhi Arena in New Delhi on December 3rd, kicking off the 20th Asian Women's Handball Championship (AWHC) 2024. The team is being led by Kanpur’s Diksha Kumari and we are so proud of our girl.

From December 3 to 10, India will host the tournament for the first time, presented by the World Handball League (WHL) and coordinated by the Asian Handball Federation.

India took an early lead in their first game thanks to goals from Menika and Priyanka Thakur. India went into the half at 16-10 thanks in large part to the efforts of captain Diksha Kumari, a gold medallist from the SAF Games, who stopped three opponent penalties in the first half.

One of India's top professional handball leagues, the World Handball League (WHL), is committed to empowering female athletes. Teams from different regions compete at the highest level in the WHL, which was created to promote handball and provide a structured competitive atmosphere.

The league's main goals are to develop talent, encourage sportsmanship, and increase handball's appeal throughout the country. By providing players with extensive support, strong training regimens, and exciting spectator experiences, the WHL hopes to create a sustainable ecology for women's handball.
