Students will be admitted to the BTech and BS programs at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) via Olympiad marks. Beginning with the 2025–2026 academic year, admission to IIT Kanpur's BTech–BS programs will be made through Olympiads in five departments.

Olympiads will be used to admit applicants to the departments of chemistry, economics, computer science and engineering, biological sciences and bioengineering, mathematics, and statistics.

Eligibility Criteria Is As Follows:

1. The candidate should have appeared for the Class 12th or equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics as compulsory subjects.

2. Candidates must be at least the same age as those who are applying for the same year's JEE (Advanced).

3. Candidates who were accepted into an IIT through JoSAA the year before are not eligible, even whether they accepted a seat by reporting online or in person at the reporting centre or remained in the program.

4. Candidates are not eligible for admission through the Olympiads if their admission to any IIT was cancelled for any reason after they joined.

Additionally, the departments will shortlist applicants for the program using the rank list from the appropriate Olympiad. Candidates that make the cut will have to take a written test, which is mandatory, and possibly an interview, which is optional.

In the first week of March, the participating departments will use Olympiads to promote the call for applications for admission, which will take place in July of the corresponding academic year. The fourth week of March will mark the end of the application period. Once the date of JoSAA counselling has been determined, the final opening and closing dates for sending out the admission offers will be notified.
