On April 12 and 13, the Kanpur UP Veterans Cricket Association (UPVCA) will host a challenger trophy cricket tournament in honour of late Rama Mishra, a former Ranji Trophy player and chairman of the UPCA selection committee.
Four teams will compete in the Mishra Challenger Trophy Tournament, which will be determined by the players' results in the just finished Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania League.
According to UPVCA President Indra Mohan Rohatgi, the four teams are UP East (coach Shashikant Khandekar), UP West (coach Rahul Sapru), UP North (coach Pradeep Salwan), UP South (coach Vivek John), and UP East (coach Shashikant Khandekar).
The two-day Challenger Trophy will provide an opportunity for many former Ranji Trophy players to display their cricketing skills. UPVCA secretary Girish Kapoor told reporters that two semi-finals would take place on April 12 at DAV College Ground. There will be 20 overs in each innings of each match. The final will take place on April 13 at 4 p.m. at TSH Ground under floodlights.
The main guest in the final will be district magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh. Vikas Mishra, the late Rama Mishra's son, attended the press conference and discussed his father's contributions to UP cricket both during and after his success.
