The stop comes following the initiative of Kanpur MP Ramesh Awasthi, who pushed for the city to be included on the new route. The train will connect Varanasi and New Delhi, with scheduled stops at Prayagraj Junction, Kanpur Central, Aligarh Junction and Ghaziabad.

According to the inaugural special train schedule, Train No. 02527 will depart from Banaras at 4:15 PM on October 31, 2026, and reach Kanpur Central at 8:05 PM. It will depart at 8:10 PM and arrive at New Delhi at 2:00 AM.

For Kanpur residents, this is a welcome addition to the city’s rail connectivity. The new stop is expected to make overnight travel to the national capital more convenient, while strengthening Kanpur’s connection with major cities along the Varanasi–Delhi route.

With Kanpur now included in this important rail corridor, the city has another reason to look forward to better travel options.
