The Uttar Pradesh government has greenlit a transformative initiative to develop four major industrial zones in Kanpur, backed by a total investment of ₹2,240 crore. This strategic move is aimed at revitalizing Kanpur’s industrial landscape, fostering innovation, and creating large-scale employment opportunities.
A 4-member committee has been formed to expedite the project, tasked with identifying appropriate land parcels within 15 days. These upcoming zones are designed to cater to key growth sectors including pharmaceuticals, education, MSMEs, and electric vehicles.
1. Medicine City Near Bhimsen
This zone will serve as a hub for pharma companies, R&D centres, and medical equipment production, positioning Kanpur as a medical manufacturing hotspot.
2. Knowledge Park Near IIT-Kanpur
Strategically located near IIT-Kanpur, this park aims to foster academic-industry collaborations, startups, and research-driven enterprises.
3. Mega MSME Park Near Bhimsen
This park will provide modern infrastructure to MSMEs, promoting entrepreneurship and enabling scalability with government-backed support systems.
4. EV Park Near Bhimsen
With the EV sector gaining traction, this park will facilitate the manufacturing of electric vehicles, batteries, and related infrastructure, helping establish Kanpur as a leader in sustainable transportation.
With rapid land identification and structured planning in motion, the city is set to emerge as a nucleus of innovation, production, and economic growth in Uttar Pradesh.
