Kanpur Metro has achieved a major milestone by crossing 1.50 crore passengers, underlining its growing importance in the city’s public transport network.
According to the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), the operational route currently spans 15.50 km with 14 stations, connecting IIT Kanpur to Kanpur Central in just 27 minutes.
The route includes key stations such as Kalyanpur, Rawatpur, LLR Hospital, Moti Jheel, Naveen Market, Bada Chauraha, Nayaganj and Kanpur Central. The Moti Jheel–Kanpur Central extension, opened in May 2025, added five underground stations and improved connectivity to central Kanpur.
The network is set to grow further. Corridor-1 is being extended towards Naubasta, while Corridor-2 will connect CSA with Barra-8. Once completed, the planned metro network will cover around 32.4 km.
The Naubasta extension will bring metro connectivity to areas including Jhakarkati, Transport Nagar, Baradevi, Kidwai Nagar, Vasant Vihar and Naubasta.
With its growing ridership and expanding network, Kanpur Metro is steadily becoming a key part of everyday travel — offering residents faster commutes and better connectivity across the city.
