Kanpur is reeling under an intense heatwave as temperatures continue to soar across the city. In response to the extreme weather conditions, the district administration has announced the closure of schools till May 31 to ensure the safety of students. The decision comes after a red alert for severe heatwave conditions was issued in the region.

According to reports, the temperature in Kanpur has been hovering around 44°C, with scorching winds and unbearable daytime heat disrupting daily life. Markets are witnessing low footfall during afternoon hours, while residents are being advised to stay indoors unless necessary.

District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh issued official orders directing all schools to remain closed in view of the severe heat conditions. The closure applies to schools up to Class 8 across all boards in Kanpur Nagar district, while authorities are closely monitoring the situation for further updates.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also warned of continued heatwave conditions in Kanpur division, with temperatures expected to touch 45°C in some areas. Residents have been advised to avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and take precautions against heatstroke.
