
Soon, Kanpur will have 15 box cricket and futsal pitches spread across several sites. Four futsal grounds have already begun construction, and the remaining will follow next week, according to sources from the Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC).
One futsal ground would cost about Rs 15 lakh, according to municipal commissioner Sudhir Kumar, and all of the grounds will be operational in a month. According to the municipal commissioner, futsal grounds have been established in Shastri Nagar and Babu Purwa to promote sports and sports-related activities in the city. He also stated that the locations for the other grounds have been determined, and construction will soon begin there.
Facilities would be of an international calibre, and all grounds would be run according to the PPP model. There is a set charge of Rs 500 per month for coaching youngsters aged 6 to 14, Rs 700 per hour for cricket matches, and Rs 900 per hour for night matches. In the same way, tournaments cost Rs 2,000 per day for four hours and Rs 3,000 every four hours at night.
Ram Lila Park Raipurwa (zone-1), wards 62, 72, and Ram Gopal Crossing Park (zone 2), Ram Leela Park Vasant Vihar, wards 36 and 38 (zone 3), ward 7, Charan Singh Colony Park, ward 45, Durga Mandir Park Barra-8, and ward 57, Panki Anjani Park, will all have futsal fields, according to the municipal commissioner.
