In order to support tourism, business, and industry, the Kanpur Development Plan 2051 places a strong emphasis on making sure that the city's future expansion is accompanied with efficient traffic flow and improved connectivity.
The 93.20-kilometer ring road that is being constructed around Kanpur city will be joined by another outer ring road. From Chaubepur to Achalganj (Unnao), the region will be connected by this 124-kilometer route. Rapid train, airport development, road widening, the building of seven multi-level parking lots, townships, and commercial hubs are among the 105 projects planned under Vision-2051.
A plan for providing efficient mobility to the 78 lakh people by that time has been outlined in Vision-2051. Rapid trains between Kanpur and Lucknow, airport expansion in Ahirwan, and the launch of cargo service have all been highlighted as necessary for this.
The Metro Rail will be extended by 74.92 km over a number of new routes, such as IIT to Mandhna and Panki to Cantt. This will also see the construction of two four-lane bridges across the Ganga. Two further bridges across the Ganga have been planned in addition to these.
Seven multi-level parking lots are to be constructed throughout the city in order to address the issue of the growing number of cars and haphazard parking on the roads. Mall Road, Kalpi Road, Gumti No. 5, Halsi Road, Ghantaghar, and other locations will see the construction of these parking lots. The development of these parking lots as automated parking spaces has been prioritised.
To ensure a cooperative and well-thought-out approach to Kanpur's growth, higher authorities ordered copies of the vision paper to be sent to all pertinent departments for study and opinion.
