Metro Routes To Be Built In Kanpur And Meerut By 2025

In 2024–2025, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) and the UP Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) plan to launch fully developed metro routes in Kanpur and Meerut. The North-South corridor, which stretches 23.8 km and connects 21 stations between IIT Kanpur and Naubasta, is anticipated to serve 1.5 lakh commuters every day. 

UPMRC PRO told , "The first corridor of Kanpur Metro is expected to be commissioned by Nov 2024." 

"The first corridor of 23.8 km will have 14 elevated stations and seven underground. Once the entire corridor is commissioned, it will revolutionise the urban transportation landscape in Kanpur, providing commuters with a modern, efficient and comfortable mode of travel," said the UPMRC official.

The second corridor of Kanpur Metro from Agriculture University to Barra with eight stations will be commissioned by Dec 2025.
