A major infrastructure boost is on the way for Kanpur as approval has been granted for the construction of a new bridge over the Ganga River. The bridge will directly connect the city with the fast-developing Trans Ganga City, improving regional connectivity and easing traffic movement between the two areas.

Project Overview:

The proposed bridge will span approximately 2 kilometers and will be designed as a four-lane structure. To ensure smoother traffic flow, planners have opted for two parallel two-lane bridges instead of a single four-lane structure. This design helps reduce congestion and avoids bottlenecks that often occur when traffic merges.

Investment and Funding:

The estimated cost of the project stands at ₹753 crore. Out of this, ₹460 crore will be funded by the state government, while the remaining amount will be covered by the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority, which is actively working on developing industrial infrastructure in the region.

The new bridge is expected to significantly improve connectivity between Kanpur and the industrial hub of Trans Ganga City, encouraging smoother movement for commuters, goods transport, and businesses. The project will also support the growth of industries and residential developments around Trans Ganga City, making the region more accessible and attractive for investment.

With improved infrastructure and easier access across the Ganga, the bridge is likely to play a key role in strengthening Kanpur’s urban expansion and economic activity in the coming years.
