

Flags will be hoisted throughout the city in honour of Republic Day. The tricolour will be raised at the city's Phoolbagh at a height of 150 feet to commemorate the founding of the Indian Republic. Gandhi Bhawan hosted the first flag hoist in the same Phoolbagh following the implementation of the Constitution in 1950. The tricolour was proudly raised to a height of 20 feet.

There was a joyous celebration in Kanpur and around the nation on the occasion of the Constitution's implementation. Kanpur used to have 36 wards back then. Around 200 locations throughout the city were designated for flag hoisting. At KEM Hall, which is now Gandhi Bhawan in Phoolbagh, the city's tallest tricolour, standing 20 feet tall, was raised.
