The Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) is set to witness a significant expansion as the Uttar Pradesh Government has approved Unnao district as a new node under the ambitious defence manufacturing initiative. This development marks another milestone in the state’s vision to become a major hub for defence production and industrial growth.
As per official approval, around 230 hectares of land has been identified near the Unnao Integrated Manufacturing & Logistics Cluster (IMLC). The selected land parcels are spread across Murtaza Nagar, Orhar, and Sarai Katian, strategically located to support industrial activity, logistics, and large-scale manufacturing.
The inclusion of Unnao strengthens the corridor’s connectivity between Lucknow, Kanpur, and surrounding industrial belts, making it an attractive destination for defence manufacturers, MSMEs, and ancillary units.
The state government has announced that land acquisition for the Unnao Defence Corridor node is expected to begin by March. Once initiated, the process will pave the way for infrastructure development, industrial plots, and investment opportunities in defence and aerospace manufacturing.
What Does This Mean For Unnao?
With its inclusion in the Defence Corridor, Unnao is poised to emerge as a new industrial and investment hotspot. Improved infrastructure, job creation, and increased business activity are expected to positively impact the local economy and surrounding areas.
