Uttar Pradesh is moving ahead rapidly with its ambitious State Capital Region (SCR) development plan, designed on the lines of the National Capital Region (NCR). One of the biggest highlights of this mega infrastructure vision is the proposed High-Speed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), also known as the Namo Bharat Corridor.
The upcoming high-speed rail corridor will directly connect Kanpur, Unnao, Lucknow and Ayodhya, making travel across some of Uttar Pradesh’s most important cities faster, smoother and more efficient than ever before.
Once completed, passengers are expected to travel from Kanpur to Ayodhya in just 90 minutes — a development that could completely transform regional connectivity, business growth and tourism in the state.
187-KM Namo Bharat Corridor Planned Across Key UP Cities:
The proposed Namo Bharat Corridor will stretch across approximately 187 kilometres. According to the development plan, the route will begin from Nayaganj in Kanpur and pass through Unnao, Lucknow and Raebareli before finally reaching Ayodhya.
The project will be executed in two major phases:
Phase 1: Nayaganj to Amausi covering nearly 67 kilometres
Phase 2: Extension from Amausi to Ayodhya
Officials estimate the total project investment at nearly ₹32,000 crore, making it one of the biggest regional transit infrastructure projects in Uttar Pradesh.
The SCR and Namo Bharat Corridor project is expected to significantly improve daily travel for lakhs of people commuting for work, education and business. Reduced travel time between major cities will also strengthen trade, logistics and industrial growth in the region.
Tourism is expected to receive a major boost as well, especially in Ayodhya, which continues to witness massive infrastructure and religious tourism development. Improved connectivity could make weekend and same-day travel between Kanpur, Lucknow and Ayodhya far more convenient.
Meanwhile, Lucknow is likely to emerge as a major regional interchange hub under the new SCR model.
As the State Capital Region vision moves forward, the Kanpur–Lucknow–Ayodhya rapid transit corridor could redefine how people travel and work across central Uttar Pradesh.
