Vehicle speed limits are being set for the highway that is being constructed between two of Uttar Pradesh's largest cities. In fact, work is currently being completed on the highway that will connect Kanpur and Lucknow.
When this eight-lane expressway is finished, there will be a significant decrease in the distance between Kanpur and Lucknow. The two cities will be easily accessible in 40 to 50 minutes. The NHAI intends to maintain the 120 km/h speed restriction for vehicles on this highway. For light vehicles, this speed restriction has been set. Heavy vehicles will be travelling at 80 kilometres per hour at the same time.
This system's primary goal is to educate drivers about traffic laws. Driving a car within the posted speed limit is now subject to tighter rules. There will be a system in place to monitor car overlimits.
The Lucknow-Kanpur Highway will have an automated challan system installed for overspeeding violations. The entire motorway will eventually have CCTV cameras installed. The eight-lane, 63-kilometer motorway that would connect Kanpur and Lucknow is currently nearing completion. On the Greenfield route, this motorway is 45 km long and 18 km high. 85% of the expressway's construction is finished, according to NHAI.
Media reports state that the Lucknow-Kanpur Highway project will be finished by July 31. On August 1, 2025, the motorway will also be opened to the public. The civil work is expected to be finished by June, according to officials. In July, all kinds of work will be finished.
