As India gears up to celebrate Independence Day with pride and unity, the women of Kanpur are playing a remarkable role in ensuring that every home can proudly hoist the national flag. Under the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan, a large network of women workers across the city has taken up the task of producing the tricolour in massive numbers — preparing an impressive 55,000 flags every single day.

The initiative, aimed at promoting patriotism and the spirit of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, has set a target of producing 4 lakh flags before the 15th of August. From stitching the saffron, white, and green panels to carefully adding the Ashoka Chakra, each flag is crafted with precision, love, and a deep sense of pride.

This task has been taken on by 465 women in the district, and 146 self-help organisations are currently sewing the tricolour flag. While the machines whirr, the sound of patriotism reverberates.

This Independence Day, every home in Kanpur will proudly fly the tricolour — stitched by the hands of its women. Thanks to the relentless efforts of these women, the Har Ghar Tiranga dream is set to become a vivid reality.
