The tender for the Ghar roads to be built in the first phase under the CM grid scheme hasn’t been opened yet but even before that, preparations are already underway to build eight roads in the second phase. For this, Rs. 100 crore has been allocated from the government.
Roads in the southern, western and eastern regions have been marked in Kanpur and a team of Urban Road Infrastructure Development Agency (MUGURIDA) will be in the city soon to inspect and give approval for the construction of four or five of these roads to start with.
Under the Chief Minister Green Road Infrastructure Development Scheme (CM Grid Scheme), the Rs. 100 crore that has been allotted has been used to select four roads for construction as per the guidelines of the scheme. Tenders for their construction will be read till noon August 6. All roads will have four lanes, dividers in the middle, footpaths on both sides, utility ducts and powerlines. Under this scheme, Kidwai Nagar and more such areas have been selected.
Notices are also being given in the Kalyanpur area to remove encroachments within the roads. In the financial year 2023-24, under the leadership of Municipal Commissioner Shivsharanappa GN, the Kanpur Municipal Corporation collected house tax more than the target for the second consecutive time. This time too, under the second phase of this scheme, KMC in the current financial year will build eight more roads with the allocated funds.
