In a landmark step to improve connectivity and minimise travel time, Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal-Kanpur Economic Corridor will be upgraded to a four-lane highway with a substantial investment of Rs 3,589.4 crore. The project consists of four packages: Bhopal to Vidisha, Vidisha to Gyaraspur, Satnaighat to Chouka, and Chouka to Kaimaha.

The enhancement of this corridor is predicted to have a significant impact on the region's overall development, promoting economic growth and increasing the quality of life for locals. According to sources, the Bhopal-Kanpur corridor will be built in four parts. The first phase will involve upgrading the segment between Bhopal and Vidisha. Then there's the Gyaraspur segment, which takes you from Sagar to Chhatarpur's Satnai Ghat to Chauka, then Chautha to Kamaha (UP).

According to the most recent information, the Ministry of Environment has approved a no objection certificate (NOC) for the construction of this huge route. The building will begin soon, following the model of the Yamuna Express Highway.

The two main departments would cater to Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh separately. Currently, automobiles travelling between Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh use the NH 27 or NH 34 highways, which take 11-13 hours to reach Kanpur from Bhopal. But, with the development of this new and modern multi-lane highway, the time will be reduced to just 7 hours.

This corridor would not only give direct connectivity from Lucknow-Kanpur to Bhopal via Hamirpur, but it is also projected to improve the supply chain for construction materials, particularly those delivered from Madhya Pradesh to Uttar Pradesh cities.
