With Deepotsav 2025, Ayodhya, the revered birthplace of Lord Ram, is poised to make history once more. More than 26 lakh earthen diyas will be lit during the event, which is set for October 19, along the Saryu River's ghats and throughout the holy city. This enormous spectacle aims to confirm Ayodhya's place on the world cultural map while also fostering dedication and harmony. It is not simply about producing visual magic.

By doing this, the Uttar Pradesh government hopes to surpass the previous record of lighting 22 lakh diyas in 2023 and set a new Guinness World Record.

At this year's Deepotsav, more than 1,100 saints and religious leaders will join hands to chant songs and ask for divine graces, making it the largest collective Aarti ever.

To ensure flawless execution, more than 7,000 students from Awadh University will volunteer in organizing, arranging, and monitoring diyas for the Guinness World Records team’s verification. Every diya lit must stay aflame for at least five minutes for the attempt to be valid.

This year, the city is revealing a number of new highlights in addition to the grand lighting:

- 50 life-size statues of Ramayana characters are on display at this cutting-edge wax museum on Parikrama Path, which is supplemented with interactive storytelling, sound, and lighting effects.

- Improved crowd control, sanitation, and infrastructure to handle thousands of pilgrims and visitors.

- Facilities for live broadcasting enable millions of followers worldwide to participate virtually.

The Deepotsav has "transscended from being a state-level celebration to a festival of global importance," according to Minister of Tourism and Culture Jaiveer Singh. International interest in Ayodhya has increased since the Ram Mandir was dedicated earlier this year, making Deepotsav 2025 a major religious travel destination.
