IIT-Kanpur Slides To Sixth Place Nationally In The QS World University Ranking!

IIT-Kanpur slips to sixth spot in QS World University Ranking, despite international improvement

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur has dropped to sixth place nationally in the QS World University Ranking, 2025, despite improving by 15 points from 278th place to 263rd place internationally the previous year. IIT- K received a score of 39.3 in the rankings released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a higher education analyst located in London. IIT-K stood in fifth place with a score of 36.9 in the 2024 QS Ranking.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) maintained its top spot globally for the thirteenth consecutive year, while IIT Bombay and Delhi are ranked among the top 150 colleges in the world. IIT Kharagpur (IIT-KGP), which rose from 271 to 222 in the 2024 rankings, took fourth place in India. IIT Madras, which moved up 58 spots (285 to 227) this year, is now ranked behind IIT KGP.
