In order to improve passenger convenience and provide a peaceful waiting experience, air-conditioned sleeping pods are being installed at Kanpur Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh to improve passenger comfort. This is the first time the station has offered such a feature, which is intended to create a relaxing waiting experience, particularly for travellers who are delayed. These pods, inspired by comparable facilities in Japan, are designed to improve travellers' overall comfort levels.
This upgrade represents a big step towards improving the entire travel experience at Kanpur Central. By providing a comfortable and economical resting area, the station is setting a new standard for passenger facilities. This development is not only a step forward for Kanpur Central Railway Station, but also part of a larger initiative to improve the standard of railway stations around the country.
The station will soon feature 38 dormitory-style sleeping pods available to travellers. These pods are intended to provide a nice spot to rest while waiting for a train. They will be offered at relatively reasonable prices: Rs 150 for 1 hour, Rs 350 for 3 hours, and Rs 1,400 for the entire day.
Each pod is equipped with minimal but needed facilities. Inside each pod, passengers will find lights, charging stations, and glass panels. Additionally, a nearby lavatory will be accessible to meet the needs of travellers.
Kanpur is the second district in Uttar Pradesh to install these sleeping pods. The first district to provide this service was Prayagraj. The establishment of these pods tackles the absence of suitable resting facilities at Kanpur Central Railway Station, providing a much-needed solution for travellers who have to wait for extended periods due to train delays.
