Kanpur Metro Update: The Construction Of A 4 Kilometre Tunnel Connecting Chunniganj And Nayaganj Is Now Complete!

A 4km underground segment between Chunniganj and Nayaganj runs beneath the Kanpur Metro Rail Project's initial line. On 13th March, the lengthy tunnel's construction was finished. At 3 pm, the 'Tatya' Tunnel Boring Machine made its fourth and last breakthrough by arriving at Chunniganj station, having built a 420-metre tunnel on the 'downline' from MacRobertganj.

With Kanpur Metro's success, the tunnel work on the Chunniganj-Nayaganj segment of the "Nana'' and "Tatya" TBM machines has also come to an end. Travel beneath a heavily populated city like Kanpur is now smooth because of the two TBM machines. All the personnel involved in the project gave a loud cheer as soon as the 'Tatya' TBM machine, which was chopping up soil with its cutterhead, arrived at the retrieval shaft at Chunniganj Metro Station.

One of the busiest routes in the city runs from Chunniganj to Nayaganj. Thanks to the "Nana" and "Tatya" TBM machines, we can now realise our ambition of having a top-notch metro system inside the city. Both the Baradevi-Naubasta overhead segment and the Kanpur Central-Transport Nagar underground section are seeing rapid progress in their civil construction.
