The greatest investment is being made in the Kanpur node of the UP Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC), which is quickly developing to increase India's self-reliance in the production of defence items. As the node with the most investment, Kanpur will produce a broad range of defence goods, such as arms, ammunition, uniforms for the armed forces, and equipment for space exploration.
The main production of defence-related goods, such as small and large weaponry, ammunition, and cutting-edge military gear for the country's army, will take place at the Kanpur node. Furthermore, space science-related equipment will be produced here too.
Over 210 hectares of land have been allocated for the Kanpur node, according to UPEIDA authorities. Over ₹1,700 crore in investments have been realised thus far, providing 2,500 young people with direct employment. Expectations are high for creating over 18,000 jobs from the Kanpur node alone. The Kanpur node's infrastructure improvement will cost more than Rs 62 crore, according to the state government. Some projects worth almost Rs 33 crore have already been finished, and work is in progress on others costing more than Rs 16 crore.
