The vacant areas beneath the overbridge will be utilised for the first time in Kanpur, following the pattern of Mumbai, Ghaziabad, Assam, and Patna. Under it, a sports pitch will be constructed. Cricket, tennis, badminton, basketball, volleyball, and other sports will all be practiced here.
According to Municipal Commissioner Sudhir Kumar, a survey has begun to plan the area beneath the bridge for these kinds of events. Preparing the vacant area beneath the Narendra Mohan Setu for indoor games is being contemplated. In addition, surveys of other bridges are being conducted.
After the location has been determined, work will begin on creating a sports zone that is roughly 70 meters long and 15 meters broad beneath the bridge. It will take 4 thousand square feet to create an indoor games court where people can play cricket and other games.
In Kanpur, there are roughly a dozen bridges. There are illegal encroachments in the majority of them. However, Narendra Mohan Setu has created flora from the halt side. But there are unlawful encroachments and car parking on the Sarvodaya Nagar side. People will be able to play games here day or night as a result of its development.
