You will once more experience the joy of the children's train in addition to witnessing the untamed creatures at the Kanpur Zoo. After a two-year break due to a terrible accident that killed a 44-year-old teacher, the Children's Train at Allen Forest Zoo or Kanpur Zoo is scheduled to reopen in the new year.
In addition, there will be work done to improve the zoo's grounds. The train travels 1.4 km around the zoo and has four coaches that can carry 84 passengers in total. The train drew 300 children and young people every day on average until it was suspended.
The goal of boosting zoo attendance was given particular attention. It was agreed that in order to draw more and more people to the 50-year-old zoo, different institutions would be approached. Solar plants will be installed in support of the increased promotion of green energy.
DID YOU KNOW?
The children's train was launched in the zoo in 2016. Then arrangements were made to run it on battery. Due to the battery deteriorating after a year, the train's cost was rising. The zoo's management then made the decision to switch to CNG. The process of switching the engine to CNG was initiated in June of 2021.
