We come bearing good news for Kanpur's leather industry. The establishment of a leather fashion training centre and design studio in the KLC Complex in Unnao has been authorised by the Indian government. This studio will be constructed under the Exim Bank of India's Grassroots Initiative for Development Program and the Government's Ministry of Commerce and Industry's District Export Hub Scheme.
This studio will offer job tasks and innovative designs to the MSME units of the leather fashion and leather goods cluster. According to leather exporters, the inauguration of the design studio will allow for the emergence of new designers. Additionally, one can create their own designs at the same time. At the moment, they rely on overseas buyers for designs.
This upscale design studio will work with NIFT Raebareli to jointly offer advanced fashion design certificate and diploma programs as well as bespoke modules for young people from the region who have previously attended private fashion schools in Delhi and Mumbai. The KLC Complex has also begun the admissions process for this. The training program will run for six months.
New designs will be aided by the design studio's Shoe Master Software, CAD/CAM, 3D printer, 3D last scanner, material scanner, embroidery machine, and other contemporary equipment and technology.
In six months, if all goes according to plan, the design studio will be completed. This centre will be of the highest calibre. Its establishment will enable the availability of self-designed products. The fashion industry will expand as well.
