As per the instructions given by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and Civil Defence Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, a civil defence mock drill is to be organised in Kanpur Metropolitan Area on 7th May from 04.00 pm under the Civil Defence Mock Drill.
The aim of the civil defence mock drill is to provide systematic and quick response to the citizens in an emergency. It includes exercises like air raid warning (siren), black out, evacuation, and providing first aid.
Under the Civil Security Mock Drill, a fire safety drill will be organized at 10 places in the district:
1. Bada Chauraha
2. Dr. S.K. Singh Chauraha, Lakhanpur
3. Anurag Hospital, Sharda Nagar Chauraha
4. Santnagar Chauraha
5. Malik Guest House, Ramadevi Chauraha
6. Basmandi Chauraha
7. Pal Chauraha
8. Dabauli Mod
9. Shri Muni Inter College, Govind Nagar
10. Yashoda Nagar Inter College
Under the Civil Defence Mock Drill, between 09.30 pm to 10.00 pm, a black out will be done for the assessment of the air raid warning system, that is, all such points of light will be kept off experimentally for a fixed period, so that the populated areas and sensitive places cannot be identified during air raids from a height or from the sky.
During the above period it is expected from all the citizens that they will ensure that the lights inside the house are not visible from outside the house under any condition and for this they will use curtain or black paper etc. on glass doors etc. and ensure that no light in the house can be identified from a distance or from a height.
As directed by the Home Ministry of the Government of India, the District Administration and Police Commissionerate officials will also coordinate with the Armed Forces Force officers during the aforementioned period to exchange information and make other necessary arrangements for the security of the district's residents, businesses, etc.
Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Additional District Magistrate (City), Kanpur Nagar from the District Administration and Mr. Rajesh Kumar Srivastava, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Commissionerate, Kanpur Nagar from the Police Department will be the nodal officers.
