
Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), Kanpur, and the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET) signed a memorandum of understanding. The MoU was signed during a two-day training program on “Chemicals and Petrochemicals Industrial Safety” which was being conducted at the university.
During the MoU, Vice Chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak remarked that this collaboration between CIPET and CSJMU is an important milestone in boosting industrial safety research and sustainability in the chemical and petrochemical industries. It opens the door for upcoming cooperative projects and skill-building courses.
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Government of India, is home to the prestigious Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET) which works in the fields of plastics, polymers, and petrochemicals engineering and supports technology, academics, training, and research and development. With centres spread across 45 locations, it operates on a hub-and-spoke approach.
The university is dedicated to encouraging industry-academia relationships for students, he explained. Additionally, he emphasised that such programs align with CSJMU's mission to provide instructors and students with real-world expertise and industry experience.
With an emphasis on petrochemicals, plastics, polymers, chemical engineering, and material science, the goal of this Memorandum of Understanding is to foster a synergistic framework that will support the development and expansion of quality workforce in the fields of engineering, technology, and science.
