The Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) at IIT Kanpur has teamed up with NMexus, a new business accelerator and commercialisation hub in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, in a move that will alter the course of Indian entrepreneurs around the world.
NMexus, which was unveiled by New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham at the SelectUSA Investment Summit, is intended to draw in foreign direct investment (FDI) and make it easier for foreign businesses to enter the US market. India's increasing emphasis on cross-border innovation is reflected in this bilateral project, which is a first for international startup partnership.
SIIC IIT Kanpur will give NMexus a well curated list of excellent, market-ready Indian entrepreneurs as part of the Memorandum of Understanding inked in April 2025. In exchange, NMexus will provide these entrepreneurs with soft-landing infrastructure, mentorship, help with regulatory compliance, and business development services as a starting point for their entry into the North American ecosystem.
The cooperation between NMexus and IIT Kanpur is more than just a memorandum of understanding; it's a growing trend of Indian entrepreneurs going global. Such initiatives would set the groundwork for a more efficient and resourceful expansion path, which is important as India aims to increase its market share globally.
The collaboration combines the best of both worlds—East and West, innovation and execution, vision and scale—by fusing NMexus's business acceleration framework with IIT Kanpur's academic and technological legacy.
