For everyone who has to cross Kanpur Kachehri area or the court campus either for work or other purposes, the struggle is real. Vehicle congestion is a problem in the area that the Municipal Corporation has been trying to solve for some time. But there’s good news as the area will get multilevel parking by next year, making transit easier for all.
A deadline of one year has been set to complete the multilevel parking being built in the court campus. Municipal Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Gehlot directed the Smart City Kanpur officials on Saturday to complete the work soon. He said that all deadlocks of the project have been resolved and in a year’s time, the public will be in a position to reap its benefits.
Two major projects are left under the Smart City Project. First is the multilevel parking and second work is going on for the Convention Center in Chunniganj area. The timeline for the completion of this project has been set till October ’24.
In a meeting with the Smart City Nodal Officer, RK Singh last week, Municipal Commissioner said that all the ongoing works must be completed soon without any further delays.
For the multilevel parking project, the work on the basement has been completed and construction on first floor has started. Post completion next year, parking will be done at the court and VIP Road. The Municipal Commissioner also held meetings with the officials, stake holders and public representative to soon start work on the two roads to be built under the CM Grid Scheme. Bad roads in the city will also be repaired as soon as possible.
