When going from Kanpur to Ayodhya, you may avoid the traffic jams in Cantt, Shaheed Path, and Gomti Nagar in Lucknow easily. Turn right at the junction, avoid Sultanpur Highway, and take Ayodhya Road at BBD, which is only 18 kilometres from Lucknow. The newly connected Outer Ring Road connects Kanpur and Ayodhya without the congestion of central Lucknow lanes.
Likewise, a direct path from Sitapur Road to Ayodhya, Varanasi, or Kanpur is now available via the Outer Ring Road, which is connected close to Bakshi Ka Talab. Travellers can avoid city traffic by getting on the Ring Road at BKT and turning onto Ayodhya Road, which avoids Kursi Road and Deva Road. Even cars travelling from Hardoi can avoid city traffic and have a more comfortable drive.

By July 2025, the much awaited highway that connects Lucknow and Kanpur is expected to be completed, offering a considerable reduction in travel time from the current 1.5 to 3 hours to just 45-50 minutes between the two cities. About half of the construction has already been finished, thus progress is being made. Remarkably, the 62.7 kilometre National Highway 6 (NE-6) would go through 41 villages situated in the surrounding area of Lucknow, Unnao, and Kanpur.
