IIT Kanpur's Aerial Robotics team won the world championship while competing on behalf of the nation at the International Conference Unmanned Aircraft Systems 2025 in America. By defeating South Korea, Armenia, Hong Kong, and Poland, the squad was able to accomplish this achievement. The tournament took place from May 14–17 in North Carolina, USA. It involved teams from 36 different nations.

Deploying a swarm of five drones in a simulated urban setting to maximise marker identification while preserving constant communication with a central base and guaranteeing an uninterrupted line-of-sight between all agents was a challenging task for the ICUAS 2025 UAV Competition. Only the best teams from around the world advanced to the in-person finals of the simulation, which was run remotely utilising a ROS-Gazebo environment. In this crucial simulation, Team Aerial Robotics performed exceptionally well, guaranteeing their place among the leading competitors worldwide.

The institute is really proud of this. In addition to gaining a wider perspective by interacting with teams from around the world, the Aerial Robotics team feels that this journey has taught them priceless lessons in self-belief, perseverance, and hard work, further solidifying their resolve to strive for excellence and take on bigger challenges in the future.

The team's success serves as an inspiration for aspiring engineers and reinforces the importance of innovation and collaboration in advancing technology.
