Big achievement for Kanpur!

Defence establishments are working to advance India's quest for independence. Pilots of Tejas aircraft will now be able to use seat ejection parachutes manufactured by Ordnance Parachute Factory (OPF). India will no longer be dependent on the United States and other European nations once these parachutes are manufactured. Up until today, the Indian Army had purchased fighter aircraft seat ejection pilot parachutes from them.

The seat ejection parachute was created by engineers at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)'s Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE) to help fighter pilots operating all Tejas aircraft types make a safe emergency landing.

Following approval of the design, these parachutes are being manufactured by OPF Kanpur, a division of the Defence Ministry's PSU Gliders India Limited Company, working with ADRDE.

According to OPF General Manager MC Balasubramaniam, ADRDE's assignment to create the seat ejection pilot parachute for Tejas aircraft is a significant accomplishment for OPF. These parachutes will be produced for the army by both organisations working jointly. This will help the cause of India's independence movement. This will help advance the cause of self-reliant India.
