Plans are moving quickly to extend passenger service from Motijheel to Kanpur Central as part of Kanpur Metro's Corridor-1 (IIT to Naubasta).

At this point, the ticket vending machine (TVM) installation is finished. This came about following the successful installation of automatic fare collection (AFC) gates at each of the five underground stations along this section: Kanpur Central, Naveen Market, Chunniganj, Nayaganj, and Bada Chauraha.

These stations have 40 ticket vending machines installed in total. Prior to the extension of passenger services, Kanpur Metro placed TVMs at new stations, offering a practical substitute for the ticket counter.

The machine allows passengers to choose their destination station and deposit the appropriate fare. A ticket and any required change is automatically issued by the machine after a note is inserted. To enter the station, the ticket with the QR code on it can be scanned at the AFC gate. Additionally, travellers can recharge their NCMC Go Smart cards using TVMs. Eight TVMs have been installed in each station.

Additionally, all five stations between Chunniganj and Kanpur Central now have AFC gates installed. AFC gates have been put at Nayaganj station after being set up in Chunniganj, Naveen Market, Bada Chauraha, and Kanpur Central. Passengers can enter and exit the station's paid areas by scanning the QR code on their ticket, which is how these gates verify tickets. Between Chunniganj and Kanpur Central, a total of 59 AFC gates have been installed.
