
The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association/India Region (Zone-1) conference program recently included a visit to Kanpur by a group of female lawmakers from the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Legislative Assemblies.
The lawmakers visited several important historical sites in Kanpur, such as:
1. Dhruv Teela
2. Brahmavart Ghat
3. Patthar Ghat
4. Mata Sita Rasoi, the birthplace of Lavkush
5. ISKCON temple at Bithoor.
The delegation, which included Rinki Kol (Chhanbey constituency, Mirzapur), Asha Maurya (Mahmoodabad constituency, Sitapur), Poonam Shankhwar (Rasulabad constituency, Kanpur Dehat), Dr. Manju Siwach (Modinagar constituency, Ghaziabad), Salona Kushwaha (Tilhar constituency, Shahjahanpur), Usha Maurya (Hussainganj constituency, Fatehpur), Salona Kushwaha (Tilhar constituency, Shahjahanpur), Poonam Shankhwar (Rasulabad constituency, Kanpur Dehat), and Gudiya Katheria (Sadar constituency, Auraiya) took pictures to document their visits and showed their admiration for Kanpur's tourist attractions.
Additionally, the lawmakers went to the Iskcon temple in Kanpur, where they were warmly welcomed by Temple President Prem Hari Nam Prabhu Ji, Mukesh Paliwal Ji, and other prominent devotees. They conducted a comprehensive tour, showing them the temple's grand courtyard, Kaliya Krishna Kund, Vedic Ashram, and Gaushala.
All of the participants said that these spiritual events featuring important members of society inspire people to connect with their Indian cultural heritage. Officials from the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, security guards, Tehsildar (Sadar) Ritesh Singh, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) Ritu Priya led the trip.
