Getting To Know Studio A Designer And How She Stepped Up In This Industry!

Kriti Sawhney

1. What is the best compliment you have ever received on your designs till date?

‘ Our designs compliment all or most body types ‘ this has been the best compliment, as our brand is moving forward we have always tried to make people comfortable as well as confident, wearing our designs through all body shapes.

2. Fashion has an age old reputation of being a female oriented industry. Do you feel women make better designers?

I don’t think fashion is meant to be a female oriented industry only. What matters is that you should have the aptitude for it and then anyone can make it work. Many big names in the industry include men too.

3. Starting out, did you face any challenges or obstacles in establishing your business that your male counterparts wouldn’t have?

Yes, of course I did. But it is what it is. A little bit of struggle is meant for everyone putting up in any kind of industry.

4. Reflecting back on your journey, what do you think has worked out for you?

I think not stepping down. We all have ups and downs whenever we start a new business and not stepping down no matter what. And yes, understanding the needs of the customer all along and improvising has worked for me.

5. One piece of advice you would like to give to a young fashion graduate who wants to delve into the industry.

Find your niche and have patience. Niche will help you to build a unique product and patience will help you grow. Every step is a learning, learn and move on.

6. Today, with society becoming more open minded, women are very experimental with all kinds of clothing. Does that fuel your creativity as a designer too?

Of course! It gives me and the team open hands to explore ideas and bring them into the game. We try to add a little drama to classic styles that are fun for all age groups.
