In a recent development, Indigo has proposed to the airport authority to start flights to four major cities from Kanpur.

As of now, travellers from Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore land at Lucknow and take the road to Kanpur.

Similarly, SpiceJet will be starting flights to Kolkata, after Delhi and Mumbai. The schedule for the same will be decided once the airport authority grants permission.

Following Indigo's announcement to start 4 flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad from 15th September, the acceptance of the proposal will mark the flight of seven aircraft of two different companies from Chakeri Airport for the first time ever.
