Ramesh Awasthi of the Bharatiya Janata party won the close race to hold the Kanpur Lok Sabha seat, defeating Alok Mishra of the INDIA bloc by 20,968 votes. While the INDIA candidate received 4,22,087 votes and the Bahujan Samaj Party candidate received 12,032 votes, Awasthi received 4,43,055 votes.

Out of the 16,62,859 voters in this seat, only 8,82,074 (53.05%) cast ballots. The turnout for this seat was 52% in 2019, 37% in 2009, and 52% in 2014. Compared to 2019's turnout, the projected turnout for 2024 was +1.43%.
