According to media reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is anticipated to visit Kanpur on April 24th to officially open the underground portion of the Kanpur Metro. According to reports, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has given the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) informal confirmation, and preparations for the spectacular event have already started. This section includes 5 stations - Chunniganj, Naveen Market, Bada Chauraha, Nayaganj, & Kanpur Central.

The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety is expected to give the final go-ahead early next week, perhaps on Monday or Tuesday. Prior to the underground metro's formal public opening, obtaining the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) is an essential step.

Although the location of the Prime Minister's possible public gathering has not yet been decided, Chunniganj's GIC Ground is being explored as a viable option. This would enable the inauguration to be held at Chunniganj Metro Station, which is close by.

There are also plans to take the prime minister to Central Station via metro. The Central Station area is currently undergoing final touches, such as the ramp's beautification and the installation of view-cutters to obscure views of the continuing railway work.

According to Panchanan Mishra, Metro Public Relations Officer, preparations are underway. Currently, the company operates with the presumption that PM Modi will be present at the event.
