Under the purview of Kanpur Smart City project, Kanpur is all set to get a brand new state-of- the-art modern convention center in Chunniganj area of the city.

The convention center will be shaped like a lotus and be equipped with all the modern day amenities. The foundation for this center was laid down on 4 th January, 2022 and has been allocated a budget of 80 crores.

The convention center will expanse through 1,60,000 square feet and Kanpur Smart City Limited (KSCL) has already initiated the construction work for the multi storey building. This will include a 500 seater auditorium, two exhibition halls spanning 16,000 square feet and 12,000 square feet, a conference room for 300 people, 3 meeting halls for 100 people, guest rooms, a food court, closed parking lots, commercial shops and much more. The two- floor building will be fully air-conditioned and also have amenities like ramps, elevators and escalators.

In an attempt to achieve maximum sustainable development and environment protection, the building is being built in a greenway. With permissions granted from KSCL, MPHL India Private Limited is using steel-building technology to construct the center in an eco-friendly way. As per officials, the project will be fully completed in the next 18 months. It can be used for conferences, socio cultural events and weddings. Not just that, the underlying motive is also to boost economic growth in the city by creating a suitable platform for various activities related to art, culture and business.
