A unique gift for ladies in Uttar Pradesh has been announced by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in a heartfelt gesture ahead of Raksha Bandhan. Women will be permitted to travel on any Uttar Pradesh Roadways Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) and city buses for free from the morning of August 8 until midnight on August 10.

Additionally, he has directed that special provisions be made in large cities with heavy passenger traffic, such as Gorakhpur, Kanpur, and Lucknow.

Particularly for those travelling to see their siblings and relatives around Raksha Bandhan, the program seeks to simplify and lower the cost of festive travel. During this time, women are not need to buy a ticket in order to board any UPSRTC or city bus in the state.

In addition to reducing the cost of holiday travel, the action shows how committed the state government is to empowering women and guaranteeing their safe and easy movement. This will allow many people to enjoy the festival without having to worry about paying for transport.

So, whether it’s a short trip within your city or a longer journey across Uttar Pradesh, this Raksha Bandhan, women can hop on a UPSRTC or city bus, sit back, and enjoy the ride — for free!
