The Kanpur Metro is steadily transforming from being just a public transport system into a catalyst for the city’s social and economic development. In a significant move toward this vision, the Kanpur Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC) has floated tenders to install commercial kiosks at 8 major stations along the Priority Corridor (IIT–Motijheel).
This initiative aims to enhance the daily travel experience of thousands of commuters while opening new doors for small businesses and local entrepreneurs. The kiosks will cater to everyday passenger needs—such as snacks, beverages, essential items, and services—making metro stations more vibrant, useful, and commuter-friendly.
41 Kiosks Across Key Stations:
A total of 41 kiosk spaces will be developed across some of the busiest and most strategic stations on the corridor, including:
- IIT Kanpur
- Kalyanpur
- SPM
- Vishwavidyalaya
- Gurudev Chauraha
- Geeta Nagar
- LLR Hospital
- Motijheel
These stations witness heavy footfall daily, ensuring high visibility and strong commercial potential for businesses operating from these kiosks.
Beyond commuter convenience, the initiative is expected to generate employment opportunities and encourage local entrepreneurship. Small vendors, startups, and service providers will get a chance to operate from prime urban locations, contributing to Kanpur’s growing metro-driven economy.
