Ordnance Factory Kanpur (OFC) has upgraded its technical capabilities and the ability to make high quality shells has also gone up. This has instilled confidence of European and Middle Eastern countries. As a result of this, Israel Army will now be using shells made in Kanpur against its enemies.

OFC has received an order of manufacturing 122 mm shells for the Israel D-30 artillery gun. These shells have a range of 15 to 50 kilometers.

This improvement in OFC has been achieved because of the support from Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL), a PSU of the Ministry of Defence. The engineers at OFC have been successful in making significant progress when it comes to manufacturing the D-30 artillery gin shells as state-of-the-art robotics technology is being used to increase both speed and quality of production.

Export orders for shells from European and Middle East countries have also increased due to which production and export of OFC has seen a major boom. Currently, the company has export orders worth Rs. 650 crores and tenders worth Rs. 20000 crores in the process.

This improvement in technology at OFC not only signifies India’s self-reliance in the defense sector but also proves the quality of Indian technology and products at a global level.
