IIT Kanpur is to become a national drone hub. Representatives from the federal government, state governments, defence, DRDO, state holders, and other sectors met at the institute on February 24th to discuss this. The decision to increase the effectiveness of drones was made during this meeting. The Director of IIT Kanpur, Professor Manindra Agarwal, provided this information.
Drones require a certificate, but this hasn't been arranged yet, according to Professor Manindra Agrawal. Therefore they want IIT Kanpur to be the one to issue the drone certificate. If IIT Kanpur had drone testing facilities, that would be ideal. As soon as feasible, they hope to establish this facility inside the institute so that anyone can come and test drones here from anywhere.
According to Professor Agarwal, their goal is to establish IIT Kanpur as a national drone hub by 2025. For this reason, representatives of the federal and state governments are also in attendance. Drones will be used extensively in the future. As a result, much work needs to be done in this area.
According to Professor Agarwal, the defence industry uses four or five drones produced by IIT Kanpur. The use of these drones has been quite beneficial. For this, more work will be done. In addition to the defence industry, they are working to fortify other areas too.
